Just last year, researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden discovered the secret to determining whether or not you’re in imminent danger of having a heart attack. Most people assume chest pain is a telltale sign of heart attack. And
it can be. So this frightening symptom sends thousands of people to the emergency room each year. But chest pain can also result from any number of benign causes, including anxiety and bronchitis. The problem is, ER doctors don’t have any reliable methods to rule out heart attack. So these patients are often admitted for further observation. But, many times, it turns out they’re totally fine. Which means a significant number of chest-pain related hospital admissions are completely unnecessary.
But now you may be able to save yourself the time, expense, and worry. The Swedish researchers found that patients with chest pain who have no detectable levels of a chemical called “high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T” were at very low risk for a heart attack within the next month. And the results held even when the researchers adjusted for other risk factors of heart disease. In fact, they found a 99.8 percent probability that people with no detectable levels of this particular blood chemical
were not at risk for heart attack. That’s right, 99%! And this was no small study. They followed over 14,000 people for 2
years to come up with these numbers. The researchers themselves were blown away by the results. The lead
author of the study said “Despite our observations before the study, we were still surprised by the strength of our findings.”
But only a staggeringly low number of Americans know this test is available to them. Current clinical guidelines actually recommend that patients should receive this test within three hours after chest pain begins. Unfortunately, many times, doctors wait until after the patient has been admitted to run it. But the authors of this study estimate that using this simple blood test along with an electrocardiogram screening (ECG) could potentially save between 500 and 1,000 unnecessary admissions in each and every hospital per year. Not to mention the fact that it also has the potential to save hundreds of thousands of lives! Of course, even despite the very strong results, doctors caution that more research is needed. And it should be noted, as well, that even if this test indicates you’re not at high risk, there is always a small possibility that you could suffer a cardiac event in the following weeks. However, even with these two caveats, the Swedish researchers’ new findings unequivocally support the role of this test in determining cardiac risk. If you or someone you love experiences chest pain, you should seek emergency care right away. But before you agree to be admitted, ask the attending physician to run the hs-cTnT assay (the technical lab term for the high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T test) along with an ECG. If your results don’t indicate the presence of hs-cTnT or impaired blood flow, it’s very likely that you’re in the clear.
If you survive a heart attack, you are likely going to be sent home from the hospital with some instructions on how to avoid another attack as well as some prescription medications. But there’s one type of medication that you may want to avoid, if possible. In fact, according to research recently presented at the European Society of Cardiology Acute Cardiovascular Care 2018 congress, this medication could make you 66% more likely to die in the year after your heart attack than if you avoided it.
Researchers from the University of Zurich in Switzerland reviewed data from 8,911 heart attack patients who had been discharged from hospitals between March 2005 and August 2016. They found that 565 patients (6.3%) had received a certain kind of medication at discharge: antidepressants. The researchers compared the patients who received these drugs with those who did not and found that the two groups had similar rates of stroke and repeat heart attacks, but those who had been prescribed the antidepressants were much less likely to survive the incident. Overall, mortality from all causes within the first year was 7.4% in the patients who received the antidepressants, compared to just 3.4% for those who didn’t. Independent of other factors, antidepressant prescription predicted an increase in mortality odds of 66%.

The Association of Vitamin D and Vitamin K Status with Subclinical Measures of Cardiovascular Health and All-Cause Mortality in Older Adults: The Hoorn Study

Abstract
Background: A low vitamin D and K status has been associated with increased cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk but the evidence of their combined effect on cardiovascular health is limited.
Objectives: Our study aimed to investigate the prospective association of vitamin D and K status with subclinical measures of cardiovascular health and all-cause mortality among a population of Dutch Caucasians.
Methods: We performed an observational prospective study on 601 participants of the Hoorn Study (mean ± SD age: 70 ± 6 y, 50.4% women, BMI: 27.2 ± 4.0 kg/m2), of whom 321 underwent an echocardiogram in 2000-2001 and 2007-2009. Vitamin D and K status was assessed at baseline by serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] and plasma desphospho-uncarboxylated matrix-gla protein (dp-ucMGP)-high concentrations indicate low vitamin K status. Vital status was assessed from baseline until 2018. We studied the association of categories of 25(OH)D (stratified by the clinical cutoff of 50 mmol/L) and dp-ucMGP (stratified by the median value of 568 pmol/L) with echocardiographic measures using linear regression and with all-cause mortality using Cox regression, adjusted for confounders.
Results: Compared with markers of normal vitamin D and K status, markers of low vitamin D and K status were prospectively associated with increased left ventricular mass index (5.9 g/m2.7; 95% CI: 1.8, 10.0 g/m2.7). Participants with low vitamin D and K status were also at increased risk of all-cause mortality with an HR of 1.64 (95% CI: 1.12, 2.39) compared with normal vitamin D and K status.
Conclusions: A combination of low vitamin D and K status is associated with adverse cardiac remodeling and increased risk of all-cause mortality in men and women. Future studies should investigate whether vitamin D and K supplementation could help to improve cardiovascular health and to decrease CVD risk.

Lemon is high in vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that helps improve blood pressure and reduce inflammation of the arteries. Plus, lemon helps lower blood cholesterol levels and keep arteries clear by preventing oxidative damage in the blood stream.
Mix the juice of 1 lemon in a glass of warm water, along with a little honey and black pepper powder. Drink it 1 or 2 times daily for a few weeks.
Alternatively, boil 1 tablespoon of lemon peels in 4 cups of water for 20 minutes. Strain and add honey. Drink 1 cup, 3 or 4 times daily for several weeks.
5. Ginger
Ginger is another effective remedy for clogged arteries. It contains compounds like gingerols and shogaols that have cardiovascular benefits. Ginger prevents plaque buildup or lessens existing plaque by lowering total cholesterol and blocking oxidation of LDL.
Drink 2 to 3 cups of ginger tea daily. Make the tea by adding 1 teaspoon of grated ginger to a cup of hot water. Let it steep for 5 minutes, strain and add a little honey.
Alternatively, eat a small piece of raw ginger on an empty stomach daily or take ginger capsules after consulting your doctor.
Note: Do not use ginger remedies if ginger causes gastric upset or heartburn, or you have gallbladder problems or gallstones.
6. Fenugreek Seeds
You can also use fenugreek seeds to treat clogged arteries. These seeds have saponins that can help reduce the level of the artery-clogging LDL cholesterol. Moreover, the high amount of fiber in fenugreek seeds plays a key role in reducing bad cholesterol levels.
Soak 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in water overnight. The next morning, eat the soaked seeds along with the water on an empty stomach.
Another option is to add 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds to 1 cup of water. Boil it for 5 minutes, strain and add a little honey. Drink it 1 or 2 times daily.

The interplay between your brain and heart can be seen when looking at how your emotional and mental outlook colors your health especially your heart health. Intense anger, for example, boosts your heart attack risk five-fold, and your stroke risk three-fold.
Intense grief after the loss of a loved one also raises your risk of having a heart attack. The day immediately following your loss, your risk of a heart attack goes up by 21 times, and remains six times higher than normal for several weeks.1
Research also shows that people exposed to traumatic experiences, for example, combat veterans, New Orleans residents who went through Hurricane Katrina, and Greeks struggling through financial turmoil, have higher rates of cardiac problems than the general population.

Select a word (such as one or peace), a short phrase, or a prayer to focus on.
Sit quietly in a comfortable position and close your eyes.
Relax your muscles, progressing from your feet to your calves, thighs, abdomen, and so on, up to your neck and face.
Breathe slowly through your nose, silently saying your focus word, phrase, or prayer to yourself as you exhale.
When other thoughts come to mind, don’t worry. Simply return your attention to your focus word, phrase, or prayer.
Do this for 10-20 minutes.
Sit quietly for a minute or so, then open your eyes.
Practice the relaxation response once or twice a day.
Blood pressure basics
Blood pressure is the force that a wave of blood propelled from the heart exerts on the arteries. It is measured at two points; each measurement is recorded in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg).
Systolic pressure gauges the pressure in the arteries at systole (SIS-tuh-lee), the instant when the heart contracts and pushes a wave of blood along the arterial tree (think “s” for squeeze). It is the top number of a blood pressure reading.
Diastolic pressure reflects the pressure during diastole (die-AS-tuh-lee), the brief period of relaxation between beats. It is the bottom number of a blood pressure reading.
Hypertension is the formal name for high blood pressure.

Prevent HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE?
Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
These victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously.
A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.
A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.
Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it to regain a normal rhythm.
In this way, heart attack victims can get help or to a hospital.
Many studies support the belief that having an upbeat and positive attitude will translate into living a longer, healthier life, and conversely, that a pessimistic outlook promotes ill health and can shave years off your life.
For example, in one study,1 the tendency to always expect the worst was linked to a 25 percent higher risk of dying before the age of 65.
Perhaps one of the most well-known forerunners of “the science of happiness” was Norman Cousins, who in 1964 was diagnosed with a life-threatening autoimmune disease.

Atrial fibrillation, or A-Fib, is a type of irregular heartbeat that can increase your chances of suffering a blood clot or stroke.
Unfortunately, a lot of the drugs that are used to treat A-Fib come with a laundry list of side effects, like weight gain, extreme fatigue, trouble breathing, and even chest pains.

If you do not believe me, here is something you should know… I ran personal blood sugar tests on myself using a blood glucometer about 45 minutes after eating 2 slices of wheat bread vs eating a bowl of oatmeal, with equivalent grams of carbohydrates.
The blood sugar test results of wheat vs oatmeal:
2 slices of whole wheat toast:
45 minutes after consumption: Blood sugar spiked from 86 fasting level to 155
1 Bowl of Oatmeal (equivalent grams of carbs to 2 slices wheat toast)
45 minutes after consumption: Blood sugar increased from 86 fasting level to 112
As you know now, the higher your average blood sugar levels are over time, the more AGEs are formed inside your body, which makes you age FASTER.
Clearly, the whole wheat spiked blood sugar MUCH higher than the oatmeal, and if you don’t know, 155 is a massive blood sugar reading that will certainly contribute to faster aging if you eat wheat frequently… and most people eat wheat without even thinking about it at almost EVERY meal…Yikes!
Not only that, but the high blood sugar spikes caused by wheat also makes your body pump out more insulin which makes you pack on more body fat… Not fun at all!
These massive blood sugar spikes from eating wheat daily also cause damage over time to your blood sugar regulation system, harming your pancreas, causing insulin resistance, and eventually causing type 2 Diabetes. I think we have a strong case against eating so-called “healthy” wheat!
Reason #2 — Gluten and other gut-damaging compounds
The topic of gluten is on fire in the media lately…
…But most people are confused as to whether there’s any real health risks with gluten for the average person that doesn’t have Celiac disease.
The truth is that even if you are not officially “gluten intolerant” or “gluten sensitive”, there are hundreds of published studies that indicate that gluten can cause inflammation in your digestive system, and even cause “permeability” in your gut, which can lead to a health condition that’s on the rise lately called Leaky Gut, as well as other digestive issues and autoimmune problems.
Scientists theorize that the reason gluten is causing these digestive system problems is due to the excessive hybridization of wheat over the last 50 years, which has created newly modified gluten molecules that are foreign to the human digestive system compared to the ancient wheat that humans ate for several thousand years historically, and even compared to the wheat that your grandparents ate 50+ years ago.
Reason #3 — Anti nutrients and mineral blockers in wheat
The third reason that wheat is terrible for you is that it contains what’s called “anti nutrients”, which are naturally occurring compounds in the wheat plant, but can cause undesirable effects in humans that eat too much of them.
One of these anti nutrients is called phytates, which blocks the absorption in your body of certain minerals like zinc, iron, manganese, and calcium if you eat wheat too often.
Again, most people eat wheat with almost every meal (cereal in the morning, bread on sandwich at lunch, and pasta or bread at dinner), so this can cause a mineral deficiency in your body over time that leads to many health conditions.
Wheat has other mineral blockers and antinutrients aside from phytates, such as lectins. Lectins are another constituent of wheat that causes gut irritation. Yet another reason to minimize or eliminate wheat from your diet.
There’s absolutely nothing essential about wheat in the human diet…It simply does more harm than good…period.
Many people often ask me… But what about the FIBER in wheat? I thought that’s why it’s supposed to be healthy?
Sorry, you can get ALL of the fiber you need from fruits, veggies, and nuts, without the digestive system damage and massive blood sugar issues that are caused by wheat.

The 3 reasons you should NEVER use Vegetable Oils…
Although vegetable oil has a healthy sounding name, it’s NOT made from vegetables…As you might already know, vegetable oil actually comes from any combination of corn oil, soybean oil, canola oil, safflower oil, and/or cottonseed oil, ALL of which are absolutely terrible for your health.
In fact, they are downright deadly, and I’m not exaggerating. Here’s why…
Reason #1 — Vegetable oils usually contain deadly trans fats, even if non-hydrogenated
You already KNOW that trans fats are deadly, so I won’t go into all of the science as to why trans fats kill you and DAMAGE your cell membranes in your body…leading to all sorts of scary health problems like cancer, obesity, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, and more.
Knowing these facts, I’m sure you already know to stay away from foods that contain partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. You’ve heard that a million times before.
However, what you probably DON’T know is that even non-hydrogenated vegetable oils (all vegetable oils are refined) also contain some trans fats due to the extremely high heat, solvents, and pressure they are exposed to during the refining process. And yes, this includes so-called expeller pressed vegetable oils as well.
All of this high heat and high pressure processing along with the use of hexane solvents actually forces some of the polyunsaturated content of vegetable oils (yes, even so-called “healthy” canola oil) to be transformed into trans fats and something even worse that we’ll talk about in a minute called MegaTrans.
According to Dr. Mary Enig, PhD, and Nutritional Biochemist, “Although the Canadian government lists the trans fat content of canola at a minimal 0.2 percent, research at the University of Florida at Gainesville, found trans fat levels as high as 4.6 percent in commercial liquid canola oil”.
And this is the garbage that the government and giant food conglomerates are marketing to you as a “healthy oil”! Don’t fall for it.
Reason #2 — Vegetable oils contain oxidized “mutated fats” that are worse than trans fat & CAUSE heart attacks
All vegetable oils contain oxidized fats due to the refining process and chemical reactions with the polyunsaturated fat content of vegetable oils.
Expert Nutrition author, Catherine Shanahan, MD, calls the fats in vegetable oils MegaTrans, because they are similar in chemistry to trans fats, but even WORSE.
And MegaTrans from vegetable oils are found in almost ALL processed packaged foods, as well as virtually ALL restaurant fryers.
French Fries proven to immediately harm your arteries after eating them:
Free radicals formed during the refining of vegetable oils create these “mutant” fats, which damage your cell membranes & chromosomes, and create massive inflammation in your body.
The free radicals in vegetable oils also damage your arteries, which can directly lead to a heart attack. Please be aware that this isn’t just a long-term risk of eating vegetable oils daily.
There are also studies that show immediate dysfunction in your arteries, also called endothelial function.
Catherine Shanahan, MD, cites in her book Deep Nutrition a study from New Zealand that showed that subjects who ate french fries from a restaurant fryer displayed immediate harm to their endothelial function of their arteries, going from a normal 7% dilation before eating the french fries to almost NO dilation at all (only 1%) AFTER eating the french fries. This is one thing that can cause a heart attack.
If you think I’m exaggerating, think again…
Dr Shanahan also surveyed hundreds of patients that were admitted to the hospital for a heart attack, and discovered that every single patient that just had a heart attack had consumed foods made with vegetable oils with their last meal before the heart attack…Scary huh!
Think about THAT next time you order the fries with that sandwich on the menu! It really is THAT serious.
Always ask to replace french fries that come with most meals with side veggies, fruit, or a salad instead. That may very well be the difference between dying tomorrow or enjoying many more years on this beautiful planet.
Reason #3 — Vegetable oils cause massive imbalances with your Omega-6 to Omega-3 fats ratio
One of the other MAJOR reasons that vegetable oils are killing you is they are mostly made up of inflammatory omega-6 fats, while having very little anti-inflammatory omega-3 fats.
The healthiest ratio from the scientific literature appears to be a ratio of 2:1 or even 1:1 for your omega-6 to omega-3 ratio. However, most vegetable oils skew your ratio as high as 20:1 or even 30:1 in favor of harmful inflammatory omega-6 fats.
And worse yet, these omega-6 fats are NOT the innocent type found in nuts, they are the “mutant” damaged MegaTrans type that harm the tissues of your body.
This Omega fat imbalance can be YET another reason why vegetable oils lead to heart disease, cancer, obesity, and many other degenerative diseases that WILL shorten your life significantly if you don’t cut out the vegetable oils ASAP.
As a quick note, the solution to all of these major problems with vegetable oils is to use healthy oils like coconut oil, olive oil, macadamia oil, avocado oil, and grass-fed butter, all of which are MUCH healthier than vegetable oils and don’t cause any of the problems we’ve described in this section of the article.
The TRUTH about sugar… You can’t just burn off sugar…
You have heard a million times from health experts, bloggers, and on the news that sugar is terrible for you, but most people do NOT truly understand WHY it is so bad…

Just like we talked about above with wheat, sugar also causes extreme fluctuations in your blood sugar, and excess blood sugar causes Glycation inside your body, which accelerates the rate of aging of your organs, skin, arteries, and joints.
Sugar also raises your triglycerides to dangerous levels, which can lead you to heart disease.
If that were not bad enough, eating sugar too frequently also causes type 2 diabetes in the long run because you wear out your pancreas and insulin sensitivity.
And if you need even MORE reasons why sugar will kill you, sugar also slows down your white blood cells, making infection more likely, and even allowing CANCER cells a better chance to form in your body.
Scary stuff huh!
Of course, you already know that sugar makes you fat, and gives you excess calories without any beneficial nutrients whatsoever.
To clarify, when we talk about how much damage sugar does to your body, we’re NOT talking about tiny amounts such as having 5 grams of sugar from a teaspoon of honey in your tea… Small amounts of natural sugar like that are not a problem.
The REAL damage occurs when you eat that piece of cake and ingest 40-50 grams of sugar in one sitting, or that bag of candy with 35+ grams of sugar, or that soft drink with 45 grams of sugar or more…
Or even that so-called healthy smoothie at the local smoothie shop that contains a whopping 80 grams of sugar because of all of the fruit syrups they use in them.
Now that you know why sugar, wheat, and vegetable oils are killing you and your family, maybe you’ll think twice about eating cereals, breads, bagels, muffins, candy, and processed foods or fried foods from restaurants that are cooked in vegetable oil.

So-Called Health Foods That Are Causing You to GAIN More Body Fat?
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked into the kitchen of a client of mine that has hired me for nutritional counseling, and I am shocked by what I see…
Almost every time, I see their kitchen cabinets and fridge LOADED with foods that they think are “healthy” (or have been deceived by clever food labels into believing are healthy), but in reality are fat-storing traps in disguise.
It’s not uncommon to see foods such as:
whole grain breads
whole grain cereals
whole grain crackers (more of that wheat that’s killing you)
soy milk
tofu or “veggie burgers” (non-fermented soy can be harmful to your hormones)
orange juice (loaded with too much fructose that raises your triglycerides)
apple juice
skim milk or homogenized milk

I see this trend over and over again with almost every client when I first inspect their cabinets and the foods that they were buying that they thought were healthy.
What they don’t realize is that it’s these exact foods that are sabotaging their fat loss efforts, increasing their cravings, and throwing their hormones out of whack..
Here’s Your Simple Fat Loss Solution…
So how do you repair your damaged digestive system and start melting away your embarrassing belly fat, while also increasing your energy, & fighting joint pain?
The simplest way is to get rid of the foods you now KNOW are damaging your system.

Importance of Potassium & Magnesium for Heart Health:
If you are over 65, I bet you have probably been hearing a lot about congestive heart failure lately. Not from the press, mind you but perhaps because so many of your friends and relatives may be dealing with it.
In truth, heart failure has reached epidemic proportions in the US and worldwide. Its a serious condition with a high fatality rate that has doctors confounded and concerned.
But a New Discovery Is Saving Hearts and Lives!
Believe it or not, a brand new study shows that a common mineral supplement which costs just pennies can reduce the chance of dying by more than 500%!
You see, doctors diagnose heart failure by something called ejection fraction which is a measure of how much blood the heart is able to pump with each stroke. Healthy hearts have an ejection fraction over 60%. But, as the heart becomes weaker from heart failure, the ejection fraction decreases.
Also, when the heart is failing, it produces a substance called brain natriuretic peptide (BNP). The higher the BNP levels are, the worse the heart failure is.

They All Were Low in a Mineral That is Crucial for Heart Health!
You see, heart cells cant produce sufficient energy when they are low on this mineral (which I identify in this Special Report). So a deficiency in this mineral is very likely to cause more problems. And thats exactly what the researchers found.
The patients with the potassium/magnesium deficiency were 5 times more likely to have either died or had a heart attack compared to those with normal levels!

After eating plants, animals have chlorophyll in them, too, so might we also be able to derive energy directly from sunlight? Well, first of all, light cant get through our skin, right? Wrong. So, if CoQ10 production gets caught in the crossfire, then maybe that explains why statins increase our risk of diabetes namely, by accidently also reducing CoQ10 levels in a friendly-fire type of event. Maybe thats why statins can lead to muscle breakdown. Given that, should statin userstakeCoQ10 supplements? No, they should sufficiently improve their diets to stop taking drugs that muck with their biochemistry! By doing sobyeatingmore plant-based chlorophyll-rich diets you may best maintain your levels of active CoQ10, also known as ubiquinol. However, when ubiquinol is used as an antioxidant, it is oxidized to ubiquinone. To act as an effective antioxidant, the body must regenerate ubiquinol from ubiquinone, perhaps by using dietary chlorophyll metabolites and light.
Researchers exposed some ubiquinone and chlorophyll metabolites to the kind of light that makes it into our bloodstream. Poof! CoQ10 was reborn. But, without the chlorophyll or the light, nothing happened. By going outside we get light and, if were eating our veggies, chlorophyll, so maybe thats how we maintain such high levels of CoQ10 in our bloodstream. Perhaps this explains why dark green leafy vegetables are so good for us. We know sun exposure can be good for us and that eating greens can be good for us. These benefits are commonly attributed to an increase in vitamin D from sunlight exposure and consumption of antioxidants from green vegetables but is it possible that these explanations might be incomplete?
The free, one-minute heart test you can do right at home
I’ve written before about how your waistline is a clear indicator of your
health status. But it is not the only measurement that can tell you whether
you’re at increased risk of some serious health concerns.
Several studies have shown that there is a significant connection between
neck circumference and heart disease.
In fact, researchers have determined that neck circumference is an
accurate predictor of risk independent of other factors, like BMI and
waist size. In other words, even if you are not carrying around an obvious spare tire around your midsection, you could still be at risk—and measuring your neck may be all it takes to clue you in.
In a recent study, published in November in the American Journal of
Clinical Nutrition, looked at just over 300 subjects. And researchers
found neck circumference was positively associated with blood pressure
and triglycerides—especially in women.
Another, even bigger study took place in 2013 in China. Researchers
examined 4,200 subjects and had similar findings, with the notable addition
of lower HDL (good) cholesterol levels in people with wider necks.
Both of these studies also correlated neck circumference with increased
risk of insulin resistance—one of the biggest warning signs impending
diabetes. In all instances, the wider a person’s neck, the worse their heart
health markers were. The same held true with blood sugar control. So get
out your trusty tape measure and take a minute to measure your neck.
For men, measurements greater than 14.5 inches are cause for concern.
And for women, anything over 13 inches raises a red flag.
If your measurements put you in the high risk category, it is definitely
worth following up with your doctor to get a complete picture of your
heart health.
Seven heart supplements everyone should be taking
These seven supplements will help support every important
aspect of heart health. They’re all easy to find, so there’s simply
no reason not to take them on a daily basis.
CoEnzyme Q10 (CoQ10). I recommend a CoQ10
supplement—100 to 600 mg daily. The dosage will vary
depending on whether you already have heart disease (higher
dose) or are preventing it (lower dose).
Omega-3 Fish oil. I recommend 3,000 mg of fish oil daily
(one that contains both EPA and DHA fatty acids).
Folate & B-vitamins. Take at least a B100 complex. However,
to really improve your homocysteine levels, you need at least
2,000 mcg of B12, 5 mg of folic acid, and 100 mg of B6 per
day. Oh, and if you enjoy an occasional cocktail—which is
perfectly fine—just keep in mind that alcohol does deplete B
vitamins, so you will need more of all the “Bs.”
Nattokinase. Nattokinase is an extract derived from
Japanese fermented soybeans. I recommend 1,000 to 3,000
fibrin units per day (3,000 fibrin units equals roughly
150 mg).
Pycnogenol. I recommend a 100 mg daily dose of
Pycnogenol for optimal heart health.
Resveratrol. I recommend 500 mg of resveratrol daily.
Vitamin D. I recommend at least 5,000-10,000 IU per day
of vitamin D3 (the active form of the nutrient). And be sure
to get your blood levels of 25 hydroxy vitamin D checked
periodically by your physician. This is the most critical of the
vitamin D levels. 80 to 100 is normal.
