Excerpt from the best selling Book "Natural Remedies and Supplements " by Dr. George Grant and numerous Scientists, physicians, pharmacists, professors and other health care practioners. Not all Supplements are made the same!! their absorption or Bioavailability range from 5% up to 90%. Use supplements that are Natural, standardized and most importantly Patented, Proven Clinically, Published, Predictable and Priced resonable. Nutraceuticals are substances from natural sources that can positively affect one's health. In proper dosage and concentration, they may stimulate and support the body's healing process. It is their wide range of effectiveness and safety which offers benefits for a variety of health conditions. Properly used, they can eliminate the need for prescribed drugs and, most importantly, the potential side effects prescription drugs can cause. Nutraceuticals are usually prepared in standardized concentrations and taken in capsules and tablets. We recommend you use nutraceuticals that are from natural source products, clearly labeled as standardized extracts and cite the amount of active ingredient(s) you are getting. Specific information on this topic is found in Chapter 9, "Price versus Value", page 70 in our best selling book "The All in One Guide to Natural Remedies & Supplements" which examines bio-availability, and shows you how to get the most out of your supplements. Natural Remedy for CANDIDA The most common place that Candida overgrowth appears is in your intestines, but it can easily spread throughout your entire body. Excess Candida causes a whole host of horrible side effects like: - headaches - excess gas - bloating due to the poor digestion of foods - food cravings - constipation - cramps - PMS - allergies - weight gain - the inability to lose weight even on a good diet - yeast infection - acne - fatigue - depression - stress - and so much more... But there's are ways that you can help your body to fight off and clean out much of this matter. First and foremost, you should clean out your digestive system with a thorough vegetable juice cleanse. When cleansing to make your digestive system healthy again, you should follow a juice cleanse for at least 10 days (up to 30 days). Your lifestyle may make it difficult for you to just consume freshly squeezed vegetable juice all day long - but you can get by simply by adding 2 or 3 fresh vegetable juices to each day, and eating normal for the rest of the day. After you've cleansed your body, follow these guidelines: (1) Avoid added sugars (including fructose, honey, molasses, fruit-juice sweeteners, etc.) and all sugar-sweet foods and snacks, including cakes, cookies, candies, desserts, sodas, fruit-juice and ice-cream, even if they're made with sugar-substitutes like saccharine or aspartame (these substances may cause problems for some people who are allergic or sensitive to them). Stevia extract, which is a natural sweetener, is fine. If you can cut out sugars for 3 days, their "spell" will be broken and you will be able to resist them quite easily. (2) Avoid white-starch foods, like white bread, cakes, cookies, white pasta, white rice, potatoes, and all refined flours, etc. Whole-grain flour, in moderation, is acceptable, unless you are a 'carbohydrate addict'; also whole-grain brown or wild rice, whole-grain pasta (usually available in the deli section of supermarkets), etc. (3) Avoid all dairy products, except eggs. (4) Increase your intake of essential oils, esp. omega-3 oils, which are very lacking in the western world's diet. These include: Fish oils, Flax-seed, borage and evening primrose oils. One tablespoon or three capsules of any of these, twice daily is the norm. Some of these oils can be used as salad-dressing, instead of olive or canola oil, or on whole-grain breads instead of butter. (5) Add Acidophilus [friendly bacteria] to your diet, after breakfast and after supper daily. Zinc Can Prevent Heart Attack & Stoke:The best ways to protect your heart's health come from nature, not a pharmacy or medicine cabinet. Here's one example you can use today... Researchers at the University of Singapore conducted an eight-week study in which they fed two groups of rabbits a high-cholesterol diet, but gave only one group a natural zinc supplement. The rabbits taking the zinc supplement showed a substantially lower instance of hardening of the arteries and plaque build-up, without a change in their blood cholesterol levels. Zinc works to protect your heart in a number of ways. First, it's a powerful antioxidant. Zinc is also a good immune system booster and wound healer. Healing wounds is critical for the prevention of plaque build-up in your arteries. Here's why: When your blood vessels become inflamed, cracks and tears appear. Your body sends molecules of LDL cholesterol (the bad kind) to fill in the damaged areas. Over time, this patchwork of cholesterol starts to block your arteries. You can get good, natural zinc in meat, poultry, fish, and dairy products. You need at least 30 mg per day - 60 mg is even better. A 12-ounce steak can give you between 15 mg and 30 mg. Oysters and clams are also a great source of zinc, as well as other minerals. A 3.5-ounce serving of oysters has close to 40 mg of zinc. You can take a zinc supplement, too. Zinc supplements are inexpensive and available at any drugstore. So are multi-vitamins that contain my minimum recommendation of 30 mg. Folate is a B vitamin that plays a crucial role in the development of the human embryo. That’s why pregnant women are generally advised to take it, and why the government has mandated that folic acid be added to many foods (particularly grain products). Despite this, folic-acid deficiencies are still common. And it is not just the developing embryo that needs this vital nutrient. Folate also has the ability to neutralize homocysteine, which, in high concentrations, can not only increase the risk of heart disease but also induce premature brain aging. It is this latter effect that was the subject of a recent study. Utilizing very sensitive tests on memory and speed of thinking (which are known to decline with age), scientists in the Netherlands demonstrated that folic-acid supplements taken over a long period can dramatically slow the effects of aging on the brain. More than 800 participants between the ages of 50 and 70 were given a daily dose of 800 micrograms of folic acid for three years. At the end of that time, their cognitive performance was comparable to that of people five years younger. If you’re looking to add more of this brain-boosting B vitamin to your diet, the best sources are leafy green vegetables, beef liver (grass-fed, organic), beans, and mushrooms. You can also find it in supplement form online or in most health food stores.
