Are you poisoning your children?
I would like to share this information with you. It's pretty scary when you think of all those people who use toxic chemicals to clean their home and don't know the dangers. I used to be one of those people who had no clue that the chemicals I was using were so harmful.

More children under four die of accidental poisonings at home than are accidentally killed with guns at home. The average home today contains more chemicals than were found in a typical chemistry lab. Go into your kitchen and your bathroom and look under your sinks where you keep your cleaning and personal care supplies. What have you found? Window cleaner? Bleach? Dishwashing detergent? Shampoo? Toothpaste? If you read the label on toothpaste, it says not to swallow the paste!
These products can be violent lethal poisons with the potential to kill or seriously injure your child. Most dishwashing detergents include naphta, which is a central nervous system depressant, diethanolamine, a possible liver poison, and chlorophenylphenol, a metabolic stimulant that is considered a toxic substance.
Of all chemicals commonly found in homes, 150 have been linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer and psychological abnormalities. We have a higher rate of kids with cancer and learning disabilities than ever. If that doesn't say we're doing something wrong in our environment, I'd hate to see what it takes! According to the American Cancer Society, there has been a 26 percent increase in cancer over the last 2 decades!
You should also be concerned about the air that you and your children breathe. Cleaning products and some personal care products release toxic vapors into the air when they are used and even when they are stored. Children may be particularly vulnerable to chemical fumes. They inhale more air per pound of body weight than adults, and because pollutants are generally heavier than air and collect closer to the floor, small children breath greater concentrations than do grown ups.
Most of us are concerned about the environment, but isn't the environment within our own homes the most important? If the home care and personal care products we are using are toxic and harmful, we are hurting ourselves, our families and the environment.
Indoor air pollution is a suspected culprit in sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). In 1983, our research team at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, pioneered early research on SIDS & Endorphins. SIDS is higher in the winter because of decreased ventilation!

Points to consider:

  • The average home today contains 62 toxic chemicals - more than a chemistry lab at the turn of the century.
  • More than 72,000 synthetic chemicals have been produced since WW II.
  • Less than 2% of synthetic chemicals have been tested for toxicity, mutagenic, carcinogenic, or birth defects.
  • An EPA survey concluded that indoor air was 3 to 70 times more polluted than outdoor air.
  • Another EPA study stated that the toxic chemicals in household cleaners are 3 times more likely to cause cancer than outdoor air.
  • CMHC reports that houses today are so energy efficient that "outgassing" of chemicals has no where to go, so it builds up inside the home.
  • We spend 90% of our time indoor, and 65% of our time at home. Moms, infants and the elderly spend 90% of their time in the home.
  • National Cancer Association released results of a 15 year study concluding that women who work in the home are at a 54% higher risk of developing cancer than women who work outside the home.
  • Cancer is the Number ONE cause of death for children.
  • Cancer is the Number ONE killer of women between the ages of 35 and 54.
  • There has been a call from the U.S./Canadian Commission to ban bleach in North America. Bleach is being linked to the rising rates of breast cancer in women, reproductive problems in men and learning and behavioral problems in children.
  • There are more than 3 million poisonings every year. Household cleaners are the Number ONE cause of poisoning of children.
  • Since 1980, asthma has increased by 600%. The Canadian Lung Association and the Asthma Society of Canada identify common household cleaners and cosmetics as triggers.
  • Formaldehyde, phenol, benzene, toluene, xylene are found in common household cleaners, cosmetics, beverages, fabrics and cigarette smoke. These chemicals are cancer causing and toxic to the immune system.
  • There are 4700 chemicals in tobacco smoke.

It's important to say that household cleaning and personal care products aren't the only source of chemicals in your home, but they are the easiest ones to replace! What can we do? The answer is to start in small ways at home!"

More points to consider:

  • Begin by thinking of your home as a toxic waste dump. The average home today contains 62 toxic chemicals - more than a chemistry lab at the turn of the century
  • More than 72,000 synthetic chemicals have been produced since WW II
  • Less than 2% of synthetic chemicals have been tested for toxicity, mutagenic, carcinogenic, or birth defects
  • The majority of chemicals have never been tested for long-term effects
  • An EPA survey concluded that indoor air was 3 to 70 times more polluted than outdoor air
  • Another EPA study stated that the toxic chemicals in household cleaners are 3 times more likely to cause cancer than outdoor air
  • CMHC reports that houses today are so energy efficient that "outgassing" of chemicals has no where to go, so it builds up inside the home
  • We spend 90% of our time indoor, and 65% of our time at home. Moms, infants and the elderly spend 90% of their time in the home
  • National Cancer Association released results of a 15 year study concluding that women who work in the home are at a 54% higher risk of developing cancer than women who work outside the home
  • Cancer rates have almost doubled since 1960
  • Cancer is the Number ONE cause of death for children
  • There has been a 26% increase in breast cancer since 1982. Breast cancer is the Number ONE killer of women between the ages of 35 and 54.  Primary suspects are laundry detergents, household cleaners and pesticides
  • There has been a call from the U.S./Canadian Commission to ban bleach in North America. Bleach is being linked to the rising rates of breast cancer in women, reproductive problems in men and learning and behavioral problems in children
  • Chemicals get into our body through inhalation, ingestion and absorption
  • We breathe 10 to 20 thousand liters of air per day
  • There are more than 3 million poisonings every year. Household cleaners are the Number ONE cause of poisoning of children
  • Since 1980, asthma has increased by 600%. The Canadian Lung Association and the Asthma Society of Canada identify common household cleaners and cosmetics as triggers
  • ADD/ADHD are epidemic in schools today. Behavioral problems have long been linked to exposure to toxic chemicals and molds. Use of Ritalin has skyrocketed since 1990
  • Chemical and environmental sensitivities are known to cause all types of headaches
  • Labeling laws do not protect the consumer -  they protect big business
  • The New York Poison Control Center reports that 85% of product warning labels were either inadequate or incorrect for identifying a poison, and for first aid instructions
  • Formaldehyde, phenol, benzene, toluene, xylene are found in common household cleaners, cosmetics, beverages, fabrics and cigarette smoke.  These chemicals are cancer causing and toxic to the immune system
  • Chemicals are attracted to, and stored in fatty tissue. The brain is a prime target for these destructive organics because of its high fat content and very rich blood supply
  • The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has found Amore than 2500 chemicals in cosmetics that are toxic, cause tumors, reproductive complications, biological mutations and skin and eye irritations
  • Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, circulatory disorders, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, depression, and hormonal problems are diseases commonly related to chemical exposure
  • Pesticides only have to include active ingredients on the labels, even though the inert (inactive) ingredients may account for 99%, many of which are toxic and poisons.

More facts from Indoor Air Pollution :

  • Our homes should have a complete change of air 3 or 4 time a day.  New homes are built  so air tight that it is impossible to get a completechange of air.  We should leave our windows open on each side of ourhouse for better cross ventilation.

In Alberta last year accidental poisoning statistics were as follows:
    Between the ages of:
    0 -  4 years -  11, 515 poisonings
    5 - 10 years - 1,524
    11 - 19 years - 1,019
    20 and over - 7,799
  • Top three culprits - Household cleaners, bleach and medications.
  • In the USA the #1 cause of accidental poisoning is commercial Dishwashing detergent  WHY?  Because it is the #1 seller - Commercial Laundry detergents contains Lye/Phosphates and is the #1 polluter and it is also the #1 seller.
  • Deep Woods Off has an ingredient called DEET.  DEET causes seizures in children and adults.
  • Inert (or inactive) ingredients in products are protected by trade secrets and very dangerous.  In the work place Material Safety Data Sheets must accompany any product used.  The work place and the outdoors are considered legal environments while the air in homes is not.
  • The ideal rate of humidity is between 35% and 45%.  Anything higher causes mold.  When we use humidifiers or dehumidifiers with standing water we are encouraging mold growth with the standing water.
  • The ideal temperature in the home is between 68 degrees and 72 degrees F (20-23 C), anything higher makes chemicals more active.
  • When we shower, the hot water combined with the chlorine in the water, can cause major headaches. Trihalomethanes may cause cancer.
  • Using aerosols causes dizziness.
  • Steam from our dryer vents is extremely toxic, because of the chemicals from dryer sheets and residue from laundry soap and bleach.
  • Chemicals used to dry clean clothing are very dangerous and can cause cancer.  When you bring dry cleaning home, you should hang it outside for at least 3 days.  Dry-cleaning chemicals are the same cancer causing chemicals that are found in moth balls.
  • There are 4700 chemicals in tobacco smoke.
  • Chemicals from carpets and plastic have been found to cause kidney and liver damage.
  • More products that contain Formaldehyde:
    Antiperspirants
    Mouthwash
    Toothpaste
    Tupperware
    Baggies
    Permanent Press clothing
    Floor waxes and furniture polishes
    Coffee
    Wax Paper
    Money

Some symptoms caused by formaldehyde are:
    Allergies
    cancer
     immune system failings
    asthma

    Products that contain Phenols:
    Acne medications
    Baking Powder
    Computers
     TV sets
     Mouthwash
    Sugar substitutes
    Wallpaper
  • Some symptoms caused by phenols, which are absorbed by lungs, and skin are: (besides being possibly fatal) Caustic burns, kidney and liver damage and hyperactivity.
  • "Lysol" is even more dangerous than we thought.  Lysol contains phenols and dioxin (Agent Orange).
  • Fungicides used on fruit trees in the Okanagan, BC and in south-western Ontario have been found to cause babies in both areas being born with no eyes or very tiny eyes.
  • When using Chlorine, antiseptics or bleach in industrial areas you are required to wear impervious protective clothing, hard hats, boots, gloves, apron or coveralls, chemical goggles or full face shield and use in well ventilated areas.
  • When using Easy Off make sure all your skin is covered, wear protective clothing, do not breath in and don't get on your enamel, (if this product will hurt the enamel on your stove, can you imagine what it will do to us.)
  • Air fresheners desensitize the nerves in your nose so you cannot smell.
  • 1970 - NTA's were banned
  • 1980 - Lobbying by Proctor & Gamble brought back the use of NTA's in our products.  NTA's mean more suds - more suds mean less clean - more toxic danger! Studies on the suds in toothpaste found the suds to be laundry soap.

Our immune system is very powerful, like a janitorial system  Giving our bodies good nutrition means our body can repair itself and be able to handle what we face in the world.

Household chemicals cause all kinds of symptoms - from cardiovascular problems, panic attacks, anxiety attacks to bedwetting.

Eliminating the cause of the environmental illness is more effective and much less expensive than treating the symptom.
Prevention - 80% - 90% effective
Treatments - 50%A - 60% effective

Healthy Food Choices for your Children

Fats: Good[Omega 3], Bad[omega 6] and Ugly[trans fats]:

You know by now that there are "good" fats and "bad" fats. And you've probably heard that small amounts of omega-6 fatty acids from seeds and plants are essential for your body. When combined with omega-3 fatty acids from fish, omega-6s appear to play an integral role in maintaining health. Together, these two fats can help regulate brain development, energy production, and immune function, and control inflammation.

However, large quantities of omega-6s promote oxidative stress by disabling the body's second defense against cancer: the antioxidant. Adding insult to injury, they increase inflammation within skin cells. And inflammation can be a driving force behind the growth of skin cancer and its ability to spread to nearby tissues and organs.

This omega-6 threat did not exist 100 years ago. Our ancestors consumed only small quantities of omega-6 in the form of whole corn, seeds, and legumes. Their ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 was about 1:1. Today, a large segment of the population consumes a ratio of at least 20:1.

The omega-6 overdose exists thanks to the advent of technology - chemical extraction methods, to be exact. Instead of getting omega-6 in its natural state - from plants and seeds - our primary sources are now plant and seed oils (corn, safflower, and sunflower). A single tablespoon of omega-6-laden corn oil is derived from a whopping 12 to 18 ears of corn.

The ideal ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids has not yet been determined. One thing is certain, the overdose of omega-6 manifests into poor health as well as dry, brittle skin that predisposes us to skin cancer.

The best thing you can do to protect against skin cancer is rid your diet of omega-6-laden plant and seed oils while consuming more protective omega-3 fatty acids. Ax a potent antioxidant/antiinflammatory natural supplement has the ideal omega 3/6 ratio. Avoid consuming fried foods to reduce trans fats responsible for cancer and other autoimmune diseases.

A “toxic environment” of unhealthy, addictive food is behind today’s obesity epidemic, a new study says.

Step #1 - Eat a Low-Glycemic Diet

The first and most important step you should take is to strictly limit the amount of sugar and high-glycemic carbohydrates in your diet. Carbs that are high on the glycemic index are rapidly converted to glucose in your system. This raises your blood sugar levels and requires a rush of insulin to shuttle the glucose molecules into the muscles where they can be used as fuel.

Here's why that is a bad thing: Perpetually elevated blood sugar and insulin levels lead to premature aging, wide swings in mood and energy, reduced immunity, and chronic inflammation. Not to mention a much higher risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer's and more.

Insulin is also the hormone that controls fat storage. If you want to convert your body to a perpetual fat-burning state, you must keep your insulin and blood sugar levels low. For many people, controlling insulin levels by eating a low-glycemic diet can produce nearly effortless weight loss.

High-glycemic foods that you should limit or avoid include starchy carbohydrates - potatoes, flour, rice, pasta, corn, cereal, bread and other grain products (even whole grains), and baked goods. If you can't live without bread, tortillas, and cereal, look for Ezekiel 4:9 organic sprouted grain products made by Food for Life. They are all low-glycemic and taste great.

You should also strictly limit the amount of sugar in your diet. In one form or another, sugar is in most foods. And it is a primary culprit in our epidemics of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Read the labels and try to avoid anything with more than 10 grams per serving.

And don't use artificial sweeteners. They can damage your health - and there are better alternatives. If you wish to sweeten foods and drinks or make your own desserts at home, use sweeteners like erythritol and stevia (or agave nectar, in moderation).

With these all-natural ingredients, you can make low-glycemic desserts that are perfectly healthy and taste even better than those made with sugar.

Step #2 - Balance Your Omega-3 to Omega-6 Ratio

The second highly important step you must take to improve your health and longevity, lose weight, and slow down the aging process is to balance your omega-3 to omega-6 ratio.

Omega-3s and omega-6s are known as essential fatty acids. They are essential to every cell in your body, and they must be consumed in your diet. Your body cannot manufacture them. However, while omega-6 fats are essential in small amounts, they actually promote disease when consumed in unnaturally large amounts.

Based on our evolutionary history, the ideal ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 in the diet is 1:1. Our ancestors evolved over millions of years eating that way. However, our modern diet has skewed the ratio significantly.

A hundred years ago, the average American ate less than one pound of vegetable oil per year. Today, the average American eats more than 75 pounds of these polyunsaturated omega-6 fats each year. So, instead of the ideal 1:1 ratio, most people consume anywhere from 20 to 50 times more omega-6 than omega-3 fatty acids!

This is a prescription for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, cataracts, infertility, skin wrinkles, and much more. The twofold solution is very simple:

First, reduce - as much as possible - the omega-6 fatty acids in your diet.

Strictly limit vegetable and seed oils - corn oil, soy, canola, safflower, and sunflower oils. You should also avoid fried and processed foods. Potato chips, baked goods, salad dressings, margarine, shortening, etc. all contain vegetable oils and high levels of omega-6 fats.

Replace any vegetable oils you currently use with extra virgin olive oil, organic grass-fed butter, and organic unrefined coconut oil.

Conventionally raised meats are also much higher in omega-6 fatty acids than meat from animals raised on their natural diet. Cattle raised on corn, for example, have a much, much higher ratio of omega-6 fatty acids in their meat than cattle raised on a natural diet of grass. Grass-fed beef is generally very rich in beneficial omega-3s. Buy organic, naturally raised meats whenever possible. (U.S. Wellness Meats is a multi-family run business that takes great care of their customers.)

Second, boost your intake of omega-3 fatty acids.

Omega-3 fatty acids are found in very few foods, which is why most of the population is deficient. This is a shame, because omega-3s are one of the most beneficial nutrients in the human diet. Hundreds of published studies show that optimal omega-3 levels can greatly improve your overall health, optimize your weight, increase your energy, and help you retain mental function as you age. Omega-3s also reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and depression. And they can be used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, allergies, hyperactivity, diabetes, digestive disorders, and a host of other conditions.

While you can get omega-3s from flaxseeds and walnuts, these plant sources contain only the fatty acid ALA. The best omega-3 fats are those found in fish - DHA and EPA. Your brain is highly dependent on DHA. Low DHA levels have been linked to depression, memory loss, and a higher risk of developing Alzheimer's. Wild Alaskan salmon (not farm-raised) is one of the best food sources of these fats. But your best bet is to take a fish oil (not cod liver oil) supplement. I recommend Carlson's Lemon Flavored. I find it's easier to take from the bottle, rather than swallowing capsules.

That's it!

1. Eat a low glycemic diet, and
2. Balance your omega-3 to omega-6 ratio.

And you will have taken two of the most important steps toward a lean, fit body and a lifetime of health.

Of course, that's not all there is to it. You should also break a sweat on a regular basis. You should eat a varied, natural diet of whole foods, and avoid chemicals and preservatives. Drink plenty of purified water every day. And allow your body to rest peacefully at night.

Natural Foods vs Processed Foods for your children:

Mass-produced Western foods, because they’re low in fiber, sugary and fatty, cause hormonal imbalances that promote overeating, the scientist who authored the study claimed. These imbalances leave a person hungrier, less willing to exercise, and feeling less good overall.

Organic Carrots Vs. Baby Carrots for your children:

The small cocktail (baby) carrots you buy in small plastic bags are made
using the larger crooked or deformed carrots which are put through a
machine which cuts and shapes them into cocktail carrots . most people
probably know this already.
What you may not know and should know is the following: once the carrots
are cut and shaped into cocktail carrots they are dipped in a solution of
water and chlorine in order to preserve them (this is the same chlorine
used in your pool) since they do not have their skin or natural protective
covering, they give them a higher dose of chlorine.
You will notice that once you keep these carrots in your refrigerator for
a few days, a white covering will form on the carrots, this is the
chlorine which resurfaces. At what cost do we put our health at risk to
have esthetically pleasing vegetables which are practically plastic?
We do hope that this information can be passed on to as many people as
possible in the hopes of informing them where these carrots come from and how they are processed. Chlorine is a very well known carcinogen.

If you have high blood pressure, do not consume this processed carrot since excess salt will affect your blood pressure. Organically grown vegetables are highly recommended for all ages particularly for children.

What's Your Body pH?

Test your body's pH level using little pieces of pH paper that you place into your mouth. pH of 6.5-6.9 is acidic. This indicates that your eating/drinking habits is below normal. This is the illness zone.

PH of 7.1-7.4 is alklanine and it indicates that you are in the wellness zone.

Avoid eating processed foods, junk foods, sodas, coffee, trans fats, fried foods and stress which causes you to be acidic. Eat lots of fresh or steamed vegetables, fruits, whole grains. Achieving hydration, oxygenation, detox, alkaline pH are key steps to reach and stay in the wellness zone.
